Kent County Councils lawyers have agreed to talk to mobile phone companies to see if masts on school properties could be removed. The request for this action came from Trudy Dean, Leader of KCC's Liberal Democrat Group.
Each mast on a school is subject to a contract between the companies and KCC, and the income is split between the school and KCC. Several contracts have five or more years to run, and so, if KCC is to get these masts moved to more acceptable locations, it will have to be by negotiation.
Trudy said:
"I hope the phone companies will respond to concerns from parents, and agree to move the masts to more acceptable sites."
Masts exist at:
Miletown School, New Ash Green
Valence Special School, Westerham
Bean CP School, Dartford
Swanley School, Swanley
Aycliffe CP School, Dover
King Ethelbert School, Birchington
Holmesdale Community School, Snodland
Sittingbourne Community College, Sittingbourne
