walkway well used shortcut for residents
Now that work in Sessions House Square is complete it is clear that there is a public safety issue between Invicta and Sessions House. This walkway is a shortcut to the town which is well used by local residents, including parents with pushchairs, and people using mobility scooters.
It is also now well used by the skateboarders, who take maximum advantage of the new steel benches to launch themselves into aerial acrobatics.
The Local Member, Margaret Featherstone, and John Frisby, Member for High Street, said: "At the planning application stage we warned against the potential danger to both pedestrians and skateboarders by the concentration of paving smooth enough for the skateboarders in this narrow busy cut through. We did not know then that the design of the steel benches would encourage skateboarders to use them as launch pads.
"We would now like to raise the question: KCC is the owner of the land. Should there be an accident, who will be held responsible?"
