Robust Traffic Management
Speaking in support of the officers recommendation that permission be granted to demolish the existing school and provide a new Aylesford High School in Teapot Lane, Geoff Rowe Liberal Democrat Member for Malling Rural North East, identified the need for robust traffic management along Teapot Lane during demolition and construction stages of the project. He also called for all asbestos removal to be undertaken whilst the school was closed.
In the KCC Planning debate of 14 December 2004, Geoff also stated that he wanted to put a marker down that would allow for consideration of a purpose built youth club to be provided at some future date on an area of land fronting the new school rather than the land only being used up for possible future housing.
Geoff said: "Tonbridge and Malling, unlike other areas of the County, has very little local authority youth provision and every opportunity should be taken to keep this high on KCC's agenda."
