At last night`s Joint Transportation Board Meeting, held at the TMBC offices in Kings Hill, Geoff Rowe KCC Member representing Blue Bell Hill and Walderslade, asked that the Blue Bell Hill Village Access onto the A229/Lord Leas Roundabout be urgently reviewed. Some residents had written to him feeling that the exit still posed a risk.
Geoff also requested a parking review of Maidstone Road, which had been cut up by both the by-pass and Blue Bell Hill Commuter Car Park. Residents had expressed concern about an increase in illegal parking outside their homes with very limited enforcement.
Officers agreed to review the position and it was agreed that a request be made for funding through the Local Transport Plan arrangements and additionally, in this case, a further contribution should be sought from the Highways Agency.
Geoff said: "Blue Bell Hill is now very much a divided community, having been split by new road systems and the provision of the Commuter Car Park, planned to improve the situation, has not achieved its aim. A total audit/review of problems is required which should then enable solutions to be provided in order to improve the quality of life for residents living in this area."
