For the first time in over 20 years the Liberal Democrat Party, with 79 nominations, are fielding more candidates than Labour in the local County Council elections, to be held on 5 May.
For the 84 seats:
Conservatives are fielding 84 candidates,
Labour are fielding 77 candidates,
Lib Dems are fielding 79 candidates.
For the 2005 Local Council Elections, there are a total of 333 candidates, representing 15 political groups, standing for election to the Kent County Council seats.
One-third of the 15 political groups are fielding only one candidate.
Of the 84 County Council Seats, there are 21 Seats with 5 candidates, 41 Seats with 4 candidates, 19 Seats with 3 candidates and 3 Seats with 2 candidates standing.
