They lose the right to free transport to school
At County Council meeting on Thursday, 15 September, Martin Vye, Member of Kent County Council for Canterbury City South West, spoke up for parents who have not been able to obtain free transport to their child's secondary school.
He said: "I learnt from questioning the Conservative Cabinet Member for Education that there are 30 families in the Canterbury district who have not got the secondary school they wanted for their child this autumn. And the second whammy for many of those parents is that they lose the right to free transport to school - even though the education authority has directed their child to a school they do not want!"
Martin Vye concluded: "I pressed the Cabinet Member for a commitment to ending this unfairness. I shall be watching what he does very carefully
