real problem of under-age and binge drinking
Take away their licenses plea! At KCC County Council meeting today Cllr. Dan Daley called upon authorities to be tougher on control of alcohol sales licences.
In welcoming the adoption of the Healthy Living Strategy for Kent at todays County Council meeting (Thursday 6 September); Cllr. Dan Daley once again pressed for much greater control of the operation of alcohol licenses in overcoming the problem of under-age drinking and alcohol misuse.
Dan said "Research has indicated Children who are binge drinking at 16 were 60% more likely to be alcoholic at 30, 40% were more likely to suffer mental health problems, and 60% more likely to be homeless."
"I welcome the Health and Home Office Ministers review of promotional sales of cheap alcohol. But! I want to see evidence of better monitoring of licensed outlets and stricter enforcement by the immediate revoking of their licenses where it can be shown that young people are served alcohol". Dan maintains that this is the only sure way of reducing the real problem of under-age and binge drinking.
