Speculative planning may destroy village character of Aylesford
Geoff Rowe (Lib Dem) County Councillor for Malling Rural North East has heard that Aylesford Post Office is to close, not by the wishes of the Post Office but due to speculative planning ideas by the new property owners.
Two High Street businesses, Hair by Sally and the Village Store & Post Office have been given notice to quit. The new owners of the properties are understood to wish to turn these two retail units into 4 flats.
Geoff said "Both businesses have contributed to Aylesford village life over very many years and their closure would destroy the village character of the Aylesford High Street and be a great loss to this ancient village. The Post Office has only recently relocated there from another property and the mini supermarket is well used by local people".
The property owners can be contacted through
Mr P. Freeman,"Tallyspace Ltd", 40 Manchester Street, London WIU 7LL
Geoff urges local residents to write to them asking them to reconsider. "It important that we are able to save our hairdressers, newsagent and POST OFFICE".
