Liberal Democrats at Kent County Council have welcomed KCC Leader Paul Carter's attack on the Conservative Education Policy favouring the creation of new 'free' schools by parents and charities.
"Paul Carter is right to point out that all other schools will suffer a loss of funds if this scheme goes through." said Lib Dem Leader of the Opposition Trudy Dean.
"The Conservatives first created Grant Maintained Schools, and now Labour has created Academy Schools, both of which drain money away from all other schools. It is deeply unfair and Paul Carter is right to say it is not acceptable."
Trudy added that she would now welcome Mr Carter's opposition to the setting up of more Academies in Kent, now that he had spotted the unfairness, rather than supporting their creation as has been the position for several years at Kent County Council.
