Trudy Dean, Leader of KCC Lib Dem Group has called on KCC to ensure the County's public paths are open to more people.

Many paths are difficult to walk particularly for older people owing to stiles with steps, which are too high for people with even a small mobility problem such as arthritis or replacement hips. Trudy has urged KCC to consider alternative kissing gates or weighted gates that do not involve climbing.

Speaking at Wednesday's meeting of KCC's Cabinet Scrutiny Committee, Trudy said, "Walking is the most important outdoor activity and getting more popular all the time. It is essential that we do not literally put barriers in people's way".
