At Thursdays County Council meeting, Cllr George Koowaree, County Councillor for Ashford East, asked the Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Supporting Independence what practical step were being taken to ensure the continuation of daily return services by Eurostar between Ashford International and Brussels after Ebbsfleet services begin?

Cllr George Koowaree was informed that Kent County Council, working with British and European partners, was lobbying Eurostar for the retention of at least 2 trains per day in each direction between Ashford and Brussels / Lille. A meeting with the train company has already happened and another one was scheduled for later this month.

Cllr George Koowaree states "Even if the lobbying of Eurostar is successful, Ashford will be getting a raw deal with reduced train services after Ebbsfleet services begin. Ashford is the Gateway to Europe and as such it must be provided with the train services it deserves".

Both the question and answer are posted in full on the County Council Questions webpage of this website.
