At September's Kent County Council meeting Councillor George Koowaree, Member for Ashford East, asked the Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, Mr Brazier, to give his backing for funding to improve the access in and out of Barrey Junction on the A2070 now that Secretary of State for Transport has approved the construction of J10a on the M20.
Following this response George confirmed that he himself would be taking part in the consultation and would be encouraging all local residents to contribute to ensure that the area receives a road network that is relevant and beneficial to the local and commercial community. In reply Mr Brazier highlighted that the responsibility lay with the Highways Agency but that Kent County Council were involved in liaising with them on local aspirations for the scheme. The Highways Agency will be considering comments and KCC will be carrying out a public consultation in Summer 2015, where thoughts and evidence would be gathered and provided for any decisions on what is and is not possible.
