Brian Clark: Dorothy Lucy Centre closure delayed following campaign

Brian Clark and Dorothy Lucy Centre user with petitionFollowing a campaign by residents and the local Lib Dem County Councillor Brian Clark to save the Dorothy Lucy Centre in Maidstone, KCC has deferred the decision for closure which had been planned to take place at the adult social care committee on 14th January 2016.

The decision will now be taken at the March meeting. Lib Dem Councillor Brian Clark said:

"In looking for alternatives in the private sector KCC has received a lukewarm response to its need to replace day care services provided at the Dorothy Lucy Centre. Day care is a corner stone of care at the centre.

"I am very doubtful that KCC will ever able to replace services like for like locally, in an area where demand is increasing. It is now time to shelve this closure proposal."
