The Liberal Democrats are fighting back

By-election shock as Lib Dems surge to historic victory

Barchart011216Liberal Democrat support is growing across the country as they show they are now the only party standing up against hard Brexit and for a properly funded NHS.

At a parliamentary by election on 1st December the Lib Dems sent the strongest possible message to Mrs May's Conservatives by overturning a huge 23,000 vote majority to take Richmond Park. A few weeks previously the Lib Dems gave the Tories a fright in Witney, one of the 'safest' Tory seats previously held by former Prime Minister, David Cameron.

Elsewhere, the Lib Dems have followed up their wins in the May local authority elections by gaining a remarkable further 21 seats in a series of stunning by-election victories in local authorities right across the country. The Conservatives, Labour and UKIP have all lost seats as time and again voters have backed the Lib Dems to provide effective opposition to Tory austerity.

Many traditional Conservative and Labour voters are now switching to back the Liberal Democrats because of their clear, positive message on Brexit and their support for a properly funded NHS.

"The message is clear: the Liberal Democrats are back and we are carrying the torch for all of those who want a real opposition to this Conservative Brexit Government", Liberal Democrat Leader, Tim Farron.
