Liberal Democrats on Kent County Council

Protect Bus Routes in Kent

Bus services that people depend on to get to work and school, do food shopping, and access healthcare could be lost under a Conservative plan to scrap dozens of bus routes across Kent.

The Conservatives want to axe subsidies on 74 bus routes across the county which is likely to mean that many of these services will be withdrawn. The costs of maintaining these vital routes will be far less than the cost of people not being able to get to work or go to the doctors.

Small businesses will lose customers who come by bus, and the roads will become more crowded as people drive instead.

People who can't drive will find it harder to get to doctors or hospital appointments. The council's own report says this will particularly affect disabled and elderly people, and carers.

The Liberal Democrats, the official opposition on Kent County Council, are fighting these cuts but we need your help - sign our petition to save Kent's bus services.
